My First Year as an Entrepreneur

A look back on 1 year of entrepreneurship.

The past year was my first official year as a fulltime business owner, a scary yet fulfilling step I took to go after my dreams. In my first year I learned so much, business wise and personally. I made mistakes, cried, failed, had breakdowns and questioned my visions.

But on top of that, I had the honor to capture incredible, impactful and inspiring stories, successfully finishing film projects, while working with amazing people.

Here are some things I learned in my first year:

  • ‌Have a balance in business

  • Prayer, patience and perseverance in everything!

  • ‌Be on time

  • ‌Be representable

  • ‌Network in your field and outside

  • ‌Create opportunities

  • You will make mistakes! It's what you do with it.

  • ‌Use your resources

  • Feed yourself first

  • Be careful when sharing your plans

  • First observe, then serve

  • ‌Take care of your finance wisely

  • ‌Grow by expanding

  • ‌Your 'Small' business, is a BUSINESS!

  • ‌Trust your intuition

  • ‌Fake it till you make it

  • ‌Choose projects that are aligned with your values and vision

  • ‌Know your (net)worth

  • ‌Think BIG!

  • Know that there will always be problems

  • ‌Learn how to deal with stress

  • ‌Be passionate and work with passionate people

  • ‌Trust the process and path you're going

  • ‌Take challenges as a stepping stone

  • ‌Train yourself to adapt in any situation

  • ‌Everything you publish about yourself will either increase or decrease your (net) worth

  • “When you say 'yes' to others, make sure you aren't saying 'no' to yourself.” —Paulo Coelho

As I went through hundreds of pictures of the past year as an entrepreneur, I see memories of unforgettable, life changing and pleasurable projects with the most impactful people I've ever met.

I'm forever grateful for everyone who supported me in this journey; God, my family, close friends and support system. And I'm looking forward to many more successful years.
